Congratulations to East Riding Minstermen member Phil Reed who has become a York City FC Vice-President. Phil is also the Father of ER Committee member Mark. We wish him luck in the role.
The trip to Hartlepool proved to be a cracking day out (apart from the result !). Along the way we sampled some fine Real ales in one of the UK's smallest pubs (The Ratrace Bar on Hartlepool station), met 2 Swedish lads who enjoyed their ale and footy ! and a fine joke telling session from Martyn Cawood !
The winning team on our Football Card in the Pitchside Bar on Saturday 18th January v Bristol Rovers was Real Madrid. The £30 prize has yet to be claimed. Could the winner please contact myself on 07805 226342. ..........John Uttley
Many Thanks to Monty Simpson and Steve Cox for standing in at short notice to share the driving for Accrington and Bury
A Big thank you to everyone who attended our latest Branch meeting at Pocklington Football Club. Tom Allan and Mike Atkinson enjoyed answering a wide range of questions from the audience. They even stayed behind to play a few games of Pool with one of our younger members, Bradley Saxton. Jebs behind the bar won the meat raffle (kindly donated by Mike Boggitt) and Steve Cox won a bottle of wine (kindly donated by Jebs !)
A big Thank you to everyone who attended the "Evening with Nigel Worthington"
Nigel discussed a career in football that has lasted 35 years. He spoke about influences such as Howard Wilkinson and Ron Atkinson, as well as model professionals like Darren Huckerby and Peter Crouch. Our friends, The Norwegian Minstermen even sent some questions via e-mail ! We would like to thank the 45 plus audience that attended, and also Nigel for taking time out of a busy schedule to attend. Nigel also praised the City Supporters and on behalf of everyone, i'm sure we all wish Nigel and the team all the very best for the rest of the season. Also, a big Thank you from the East Riding Minstermen Committee to everyone who became members and purchased one of our pin badges. Team prepare to kick-off club challenge 92 clubs in 92 hours – that’s the challenge a team faces when it aims to visit all Football League grounds to raise money for the charity Help for Heroes.
